Against the Grain began with a spark of creativity and a deep love for the natural beauty of wood. Inspired by the world and experiences around us and a desire to create unique, thought-provoking art, we embarked on a journey of abstract wood carving and custom art installations. Our passion lies in transforming raw materials into contemporary masterpieces that challenge perceptions and inspire awe. We believe that art should be more than just aesthetically pleasing; it should tell a story and evoke emotion.

Here at against the grain, our artist Paul believes in the freedom of expression in a tanglible manner. Paul has a long history with wood working - from buildiing patios, ponds and landscaping to interior design and installations of dining rooms, living rooms and even bedrooms! paul has used his experience and inspiration to now venture into the world of contemporary art and combine it with woodworking and sculpture and has now started his own gallery to display his work for visitors and admirers.

each piece is carefully researched and designed and is lovingly sculpted, carved or machined to the highest standards using bespoke, reclaimed and sustainable wood and other materials.
